Heart Check # 104: Obedience is the Blueprint to Our Courage
Obedience lived out is courage lived in. In our obedience we are cultivating a level of courage. Being courageous is highly internal driven. Both in Deuteronomy 31:6 and Joshua 1:9 we are reminded to “Be strong and courageous for the Lord your God is with you.” The Lord was telling Israel and Joshua as you obey you develop courage. There is no courage without obedience. Obedience is the YES but courage is the ACT.
Our obedience has stockpiled a degree of courage within us so when we are faced with a Goliath or faced with entering into the unknown, we can pulled from the stock of courage we have been piling up along the way as we have been obeying. David’s courage didn’t show up when he faced Goliath, his courage was being built as he was obeying the assignment that was given to him (protecting his father’s sheep). Behind the scenes is where courage is built. Courage in public is just an extension of courage in private. When we are consistent in our private devotion and obedience to the Lord, courage doesn’t need to have a pep talk, it just shows up.
It will take courage to be apart of the impossible and to see the miraculous. Courage is the byproduct of obedience. It took courage to lead two million people into the promise land when the old blueprint died (Moses). What has you afraid or intimidated? What is hijacking your courage? We are in a day and time where our courage will and needs to be on display. God’s TRUTH is being replaced with “My Truth.” Values are being compromised for fear of backlash that shows up in cancel culture. Now is not the time to duck, not speak up, and especially not to OBEY. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidate), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
His voice is our ULTIMATE blueprint. Let’s walk in and live out audacious boldness, audacious courage, and audacious obedience. It is and it will be WORTH it…
