Heart Check #103: Audience Of One, Platform To Many

How you steward the audience of one will determine how you flourish on the platform to many. We are in a day and age where people are vying for a platform, craving for visibility, and seeking a following. Building a platform is becoming more and more sought after, lust after, and even idolized after. When you think of an audience, what comes to mind? Target audience for your product, an audience for your musical performance, an audience for your Ted Talk, but what if your audience is just one. Would your product change? Would your performance change? Would your talk change? What about your heart would your heart posture change if you knew there would only be one person in the audience? Our pursuit has been on chasing platforms instead of chasing the One who creates platforms. By now I am sure you have a good sense of who the audience of One is.

Pleasing men instead of the Lord has become the soundtrack of lot of our hearts. More concern about what they say than what He says, more concern about followers than following the One, and sadly more concern about being known by them than being known by Him. It is amazing that in our pursuit to build our platforms that we will end up having to sustain, we have actually miss out on having the Sustainer. I don’t know about you but I would rather have the Sustainer than being the one who has to sustain it. When our focus, our pursuit is on building intimacy with the Lord, spending time in His presence, and seeking His Word, you won’t have to chase or build a platform, He will allow it to chase you down. Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.” AMP

What if the same fervency, same thrust, you have for building a platform, building a following you use to seek, pursue His Kingdom? What would change? Who would change? Platforms aren’t the end goal, but pleasing our audience of One is. Remember how you steward the audience of One will determine how you flourish on the platform to many. Chase Him and watch what He allows to chase you down.
